Author's Note: For those who do not know, Broken Circuits is an automaton version of the RGB trio consisting of Atlas(Wire), Green Speed(Circuit), and Black Staress(Breaker). The original concept/song does belong to Bunny Bennett(:iconbunnybennett:) and her brother David Michael Bennett. Kayfabe takes the place of our dear Matt 'Not-The-Doctor' Smith as a caretaker of our dear automatons. The other caretaker is none other than Lionel! Lionel being a 'replacement' for Michael Phillip Reed in this rendition though he takes only a small part in this story(Sorry!). In this story our trio has to have a new layer of metal skin to make sure they stay together. They didn't manage to get very good repairs after the war in Africa against Becile's Copper Elephants so they're falling apart. Although they are robots and cannot sleep they do have 'stasis' in which they power down for what we may call 'sleep', their 'permanent stasis' is basically the death of them. The robot known as Tripswitch is supposedly meant to be Circuit's male counterpart, but he's in permanent stasis sadly.

Let's begin, shall we?

Come with me I'll show you how to be a metal man...
Circuit sat next to Wire, her shining green optic receivers watching him intently as steam rose from his neck. Now, what do you know about the organic organisms known as 'humans'?" Wire's monotonic whirring voice rose from his mouth, bringing steam with it.
"V-v-v-vell 'h-h-h-h-h-h-huma-a-a-a-an-ns' a-a-a-a-a-a-a-are v-v-v-vell... f-f-fl'shy-y-y-y." Circuit's voice stuttered out, sounding as if her usually clear crystalline voice was covered in rust.

When the gears are turning and the fires are---burnin'.
Wire's face grew panicked as he ran to get some water to refuel her and keep her going, "Oh! You're running low on steam again!"
He replenished the water in her tank, attempted to keep her going until they were upgraded to more... current technology. Their friend, Tripswitch, had gone into a permanent form of 'stasis', or so they were told by the humans who looked after them while their original creator was "on holiday".
Or, that's what they were told.
Either way, Tripswitch didn't make it to the upgrade and Wire didn't want the exact same to happen to poor Circuit after what she had been through in the war.

Colonel Walter was shocked after he heard from the Nile, Copper African Elephants were turning hostile.
She was worse off than any of them, various pieces had been missing since the war. It had been said that she had just walked off without them, but they all knew that wasn't true.
She had fought quite a bit.

So he these wonderful automaton blokes.
The war ended in 1897, but the scars left by the war lasted to this very day. Even 30 years later the young looking automatons still felt like their metallic bodies were at stake from the threatening colossal copper elephants.

Now the war is passed over we're left to sit and wonder; what is life?
Circuit shook her head, "S-s-s'rree. V'nder vh'n Breek'r vill be d'ne?"
Wire shrugged, "I don't know. Hopefully soon. You really can't go into stasis, not after all you've been through to stay here." Circuit's optics blinked as she looked at the filled out form that was walking into the room. The only way they could recognize the figure was by his sparkling ruby red eyes.

And what is real? And why do living things need feelings?... 1, 2, 3! La da da da da...
Circuit's steam that was billowing gently out of her pipes stopped and resumed after a slight moment, "B-Breek'r?! Is zh't y'?!" Wire's funaces burned brighter in the hopes of his and his friends' survival soared even higher at the sight of Breaker's upgraded form.

How'd you like to try pumping lead through your veins?
Breaker slipped on his hat and smiled, "Y-Yup! Circuit, you're up next!"
Circuit looked nervously at Wire and Breaker as the green haired human, Kayfabe, took her to the back room with a quick, "Come on, 'Circ'. Let's get you fixed up, Lionel's got everything ready for you." to her upgrade process.

Or have a heart so wet and cold it starts rusting?
Wire sat, silently trying to keep his fires going. Breaker looked at his more humanoid fingers, messing with various bits of his new metallic skin. Wire and Breaker sat waiting for hours until a feminine figure emerged from the backroom. Her skin was new and shining titanium, her eyes a fresh colour that appeared like liquid emeralds had been placed onto her metal face. Ohh, and her hair. Her hair was a charcoal colour (see: productimages.brambleberry.com… ) with almost neon green hairs cutting through the darkness. Wire curiously ran his thin copper fingers through the soft organic material on her head, just then realizing that he failed to notice that Breaker also had had this organic material when he first walked in. Wire's solid blue optic receivers turned towards Breaker and his hands dropped to his sides. Wire examined Breaker's red and black hair for a few minutes before Kayfabe's voice rang out, "Okay, Wire! Your turn!" Wire stood up, his features showing a slight bit of worry and distrust in Kayfabe's technician skills. Circuit put her hand on Wire's shoulder before he and Kayfabe walked off, and gave him a reassuring smile. "D'n't v'rry Vire. Jou'll b' j'st f'ne. 'r m'chan'c 's b'tter zhen y' zhink."
Wire returned her smile with a nervous one, "F-fine, I'll tr-tr-try not to w-w-w-worry." Once he left Circuit sat with Breaker, leaning against him.

What is this leaking effecting my eye? Does the oil that is dripping mean this is a cry?
Circuit's mind became flooded with the memories of the war. An unsuspected fluid starting to drip from her eyes. Dark oil stained her cheeks as she quickly raised a hand to her new face to investigate the sticky feeling. She wiped away the oil before Breaker could see whilst they waited for Wire to be finished upgrading.

Will I ever be something with feelings to hide? Or am I just some boiler with nothing inside?
They didn't have to wait long before Wire's copper form walked out, his eyes now appearing like never-ending pools of water. His eyes searched the room, looking for the forms of his friends. Once he found them in the darker corner, he went and sat on Circuit's left side. He stared at and examined his new gray and red clothes. He was told that they had to appear more 'human' to appeal to society and 'fit in' more with the crowds and potential 'fans'. He shrugged nonchalantly at the thought and took a better look at his companions once Lionel and Kayfabe switched on the lights to fill the slightly darkened room. Circuit was wearing a deep blue dress with a light gray sash around her waist, her hair was long and flowing, reaching halfway down her back. She had also been given a light gray cloth sun hat with a blue silk ribbon around the base of the top with an artificial sunflower attached to it. With the way she was being stared at Circuit shifted uncomfortably, causing Wire to look to Breaker. Breaker was donning a suit with a red tie, and a dark gray Stafford Fedora.

"You can't do this, you can't do that. You're not a living thing with feelings."
Kayfabe leaned against the doorframe of the room, goggles around his neck and his lab coat loosely hanging onto his shoulders. He had been given a uniform by the people who had hired him into the 'family'. Oddly enough, the three automatons were built by different people so they didn't consider themselves what humans call 'related'. They were told by society that they were only robots and weren't supposed to be able to 'feel' anything but they felt a sort of... love, for each other. Circuit loved Breaker in what we would call a 'romantic' way and looked up to Wire as a brother. Wire enjoyed how he could list off all the facts that had been inserted into his databank to Circuit and she would sit and attentively listen, and admired Breaker's courage ever since the war. Breaker simply loved the seemingly delicate, yet extremely strong, form of Circuit, and liked how much she and Wire got along. It just made things easier.

They could've considered each other family, if they really wanted to. But that would've just made their small group too confused and complicated to function. They weren't built for wars or violence, they were made for music. They now play music for anyone who will listen and will occasionally collaborate with their fellow automatons; The Spine, Rabbit, and Hatchworth. Here, in 2014, they've learned of 'covers' and have learned that people like the 'steampunk' look they bring. So, instead of taking the update, they've stuck with the look of being a metal band.
